  15. This is a very strange problem.  A machine with the following specs was 
  16. built:

  18. P-120 cpu w/ cooler
  19. Intel Zappa mainboard
  20. 16MB EDO RAM
  21. * 1.2 Gig Western Digital EIDE harddrive *     +40
  22. 1.44mb Teac floppy
  23. 4x Toshiba CDROM
  24. 28.8 kbps Rockwell chipset internal fax/modem
  25. Diamond Stealth 64bit DRAM 1mb
  26. Midtower 
  27. KFC 15" SVGA .28dp ni monitor
  28. Golden SB16 card
  29. 101 keyboard
  30. * mouse *                    +10
  31. Windows95                    +90

  33. The modem cannot initialize a dialtone from my home phone (i tried 2 
  34. separate lines)
  35. But, at the computer vendors store the dial up modem connection works fine!

  38. We have replaced the modem 4 times - this is very wierd -- perhaps it has 
  39. something to do with dial tone?

  41. why would it work on one phone connection but not another?

  43. Does anyone have a clue to what is going on?
