This is a very strange problem. A machine with the following specs was
built:
P-120 cpu w/ cooler
Intel Zappa mainboard
16MB EDO RAM
* 1.2 Gig Western Digital EIDE harddrive * +40
1.44mb Teac floppy
4x Toshiba CDROM
28.8 kbps Rockwell chipset internal fax/modem
Diamond Stealth 64bit DRAM 1mb
Midtower
KFC 15" SVGA .28dp ni monitor
Golden SB16 card
101 keyboard
* mouse * +10
Windows95 +90
The modem cannot initialize a dialtone from my home phone (i tried 2
separate lines)
But, at the computer vendors store the dial up modem connection works fine!
We have replaced the modem 4 times - this is very wierd -- perhaps it has
something to do with dial tone?
why would it work on one phone connection but not another?
Does anyone have a clue to what is going on?
